ISIS Members Start Hashtag To Joke On False Rumors

While adultery, music, and smoking cigarettes are all haram in the Islamic State, sarcasm and humor seem to be perfectly halal.

Everyone needs a break from the seriousness of committing mass executions or crucifying people, right?

On Monday, ISIS members and fanboys, frustrated with the deluge of rumors and falsehoods being spread about ISIS on social media, took to Twitter with the hashtag #IraqiLies.

Along with posting actual refutations of rumors, they also posted some sarcastic examples of lies told about the Islamic State.

But what’s most surprising is… some of them were actually kind of funny.

First, here’s some of the serious tweets:

There were some conspiracy rumors that ISIS tweeters thought were just ridiculous (sorry Alex Jones):

Then there were the funny tweets:

And there were also plenty of tweets about the Yezidis that were a mix of serious, playful, and morbidly comedic:

Melek Taus is an angel in the Yezidi religion who's origin bears many similarities with the story of Lucifer's fall, which is why many mistake Yezidis for devil-worshipers.

The lessons in all of this?

Don’t believe everything you hear about ISIS.

And also, even theocrats like to laugh at bullshit.
